Im Ho Tep – The Mummy

Here’s Boris Karloff as the sinister Im Ho Tep, aka, “The Mummy,” the very first model figure ever created in celebration of the ancient Egyptian.

Im Ho Tep was an early sculpt by Dave Grant, who crafts an excellent tribute to the creepy character, complete with a handsomely designed display base. The kit is mentioned in Terry Webb’s third GK book (second photo here), but has been scarcely seen since, as RFTG’s Mummy is one of their figure kits that retired early due to mold breakdown.

All model parts are cast in solid tan resin (leg section and torso are cast partially hollow) and are actually quite clean castings for RFTG, requiring only the minor prep before assembly.

Once built, the evil menace measures approx. 13 ½” tall x 9″ wide x 7 ½” deep, including his Egyptian-themed display base.

Please know that this particular Mummy model was purchased directly from The Grave at the October, 1993 Chiller Theatre Expo, which is why the castings are as clean as they are: an early casting, when the company put more care and effort into their output.

A long-lost monster model from the hobby’s beginnings, complete, unbuilt, and ready to live again in your collection of classics.
