“Darkman”
Here’s the title star of Sam Raimi’s “Darkman,” an early, quite rare resin model of the disfigured doctor produced by the short-lived GK company, Classic Plastic, complete with its full-color box and instruction booklet.
Sculptor John Nemec provides an accurate and dynamic figure, complete with a two head option: one of the doctor’s scarred face, and the other, wrapped in gauze under his Shadow-like hat. There’s also a diorama base of rock, rubble, and broken girders, as well as a movie-logo nameplate.
It’s a 1/6 scale model, measuring approx. 14″ tall x 10″ wide x 10″ deep when fully assembled, and is the only full figure model ever produced of the character. Kit components are cast in solid tan resin, featuring neatly keyed parts for a proper fit.
It’s not a simple build, but the end result is striking, as seen in the painted model photo shown here. Classic Plastic also include an eight-page illustrated instruction booklet which features profiles of the kit’s sculptor, as well as of Tony Gardner, who supplied the outstanding special effects for Darkman, and a COA signed in ink by John Nemec. Long, long out of production.
